Categorize this another story about twitter trending. We in Arkansas like our Twitter. Indeed, the two biggest topics Sunday night were The Oscars and the weather, AKA #arwx.
The Oscars is arguably one of the most watched awards show on TV. There are watch parties and more as people get a peek at the red carpet, the dresses, the awards and the acceptance speeches.
Also, there is usually a funny host to keep the night moving and entertaining. This year, Ellen Degeneres was the host and she, apparently, failed to disappoint. As a result, The Oscars was definitely twitter trending, even among Arkansans.
Ellen took the ultimate selfie which may have single handedly broker Twitter.

Nevertheless, Arkansas film fans were watching all over the state. We are amused when Ellen ordered pizza and noticed a lost opportunity by the Little Rock Film Festival.

We were delighted with appearances by legendary stars as was Gameday Runway.

We even dressed eloquently, ourselves, to match the festivities.

We have always watched events like The Oscars together, but with Twitter and other social media tools, it is like watching the event together in a room where everyone is present.
As if to not be outdone, the weather made an appearance giving meaning to “in like a Lion” for March. Sleet and snow and other frozen precipitation fell for hours all throughout Arkansas.
No part of the state seemed to be exempt as this picture shows on the campus of Williams Baptist College in Northeast Arkansas.

Even the animals need to stay warm in this frozen mess, especially the smallest, cutest one.

And, of course, the kids want to know if they will go to school tomorrow. Here’s a hint, probably not.

Todd Yakoubian had a valid question, because I saw the dreaded blue screen as well.
Did we break #arwx ?

All in all, it was an entertaining night. So much happening, outside, online and on TV.
Finally, the Oscars and the weather, like one Twitter user, kept me entertained.
